About Duncan
Hi. Anii. Bozhoo. My name is Duncan Malcolm Michano. I have lived in Biigtigong all my life. I have served in the political scene for a good part of my life, first as a Councillor for 24 years, then as your Chief for 8 years. I have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. I also worked in Pukaskwa National Park for 36 years, first as a Park Warden then as a Maintenance Manager. This experience has given me the skills and management experience needed to interact with people and staff. I have also worked in the Forest Industry and the Mining Industry. This has given me the appreciation for the challenges First Nation Peoples face in an industrial setting. My 8 years as Chief has given me the political skills needed to deal with different levels of governments including First Nation Governments, the Federal Government, and the Provincial and Municipal Governments . During my years as Chief I have developed many strong and lasting relationships with other Chiefs and the various FN Political organizations such as the North Superior Chiefs, the Anishinabek Nation , the Chiefs of Ontario and the Assembly of First Nations. In summary, I have the experience and skills needed to continue to lead our great community forward. We are the envy of other First Nations..
